Method Trunk Works

I’ve been a fan of Calum and Marissa, the creative force behind Method Studio, ever since we met them. Method is an ultra high end craft studio – architects of objects – working creatively and sympathetically with Scottish timber, leather, precious metals and the highest of high end fittings. Since 2015 e’ve been lucky enough to document some of their breathtaking projects.  Trunks that pop apart like boutique transformers to reveal hydraulically lifted industrial swewing machines.  A sculptural block of black-oak-made-to-look-like-water, a home for a 50 year old whisky. Earlier this month we were very happy to be back in the sunshine at the workshops studio on the edge of Beecrags forest.

A specialty of the studio has always been trunks, or an exquisite modern take on them.  We were on hand to document the crafting of a new trunk that was a surprise birthday present and also marked the launch of ‘Method Trunk Works’, a wing of the studio dedicated to trunk creation.  We filmed some of the raw materials and  early stages of construction. When we returned to get some shots of the finished product we were blown away! The beauty, craftsmanship and ingenuity of the finished trunk is simply stunning.
