Scottish silversmith Hamish Dobbie was commissioned by the P&O Makower Trust to make a silver piece for the National Museums Scotland’s brand new ‘Creating’ gallery.
Hamish is a maker who combines traditional hand skills with innovative technologies in his work. The film documents some of the making process with insights from Hamish, and plays alongside the piece in the Museum gallery. Hamish’s work is inspired by the geology and dramatic landscapes of the Scottish Highlands. This piece draws from the rock formations found off Fingal’s Cave on the Isle of Staffa.
