Float is an online cashflow management tool that lets users manage budgets and cashflow, make informed business decisions and well, see the future! We worked with Edinburgh based tech company Float Yard on a motion graphic that outlines how it works, and some of the business pain points it alleviates.
The motion graphic combines some playful scenarios with an animated ‘in-app’ experience to tell its story.
Behind the scenes...
The project kicked off with discussions around what the cash flow pain points are for businesses and how to visualise the sense of having too many variables and unknowns to juggle. This hybrid mental/underwater space emerged as a way of expressing some of the uneasiness and stress associated with running a business. The quirky tone and humour of the early sketches (below and right) were retained right through to the final film.
The in-app sequence was visualised with a mix of screen captures and recreations, allowing for elements to be scaled up and animated beyond just the in-app experience.
